Why some bosses deliberately find fault with capable subordinates?

In the corporate world,most likely u will be promoted due to your connection (cronyism and nepotism) ,not competence.555
Bosses seldom promote a subordinate based on how talented he is, but because of how much he likes that person.
 
If mid-management and workers assume that favoritism is at play, they will be less inclined to give of their best. Indifference and resentment will inevitably lead to a reduction in productivity and higher staff turnover.
Yeah. Some places have high turnover rates masked by saying they are hiring by and expanding.

Based on my decades in the corporate world, bosses who are insecure about their own abilities or position resort to bullying to maintain control or diminish the perceived competence of their subordinates. Such bosses see bullying as a way to assert their authority and maintain a power imbalance. They believe that by making their capable subordinates feel small, they can control them more easily and prevent them from outshining their bosses. What are some of your experiences with insecure and incapable bosses?

Sometimes it's a form of flirting. Is there some undercurrent of sexual tension?
 
This happens not just in family businesses, but SMEs and charities as well. Actually, it happens even in large public sector organizations like SMRT, where senior military officers who do not have any grasp of the profit motive are appointed to senior management positions. The "global search" of a CEO for SMRT never seems to extend beyond our SAF camps. LOL!
The places where husband and wife and their clan-ish villagers are hire usually are at places where they don’t bother abt the type of people they hire. Usually it’s very cheena environment that have these kind people

Ho, usually ex regulars if they are the normal staff, they can be quite Yaya in normal civilian work environment with very little hands on skill sets.

Bosses generally dislike wealthier subordinates because they feel threatened or envious. Jealousy leads to micromanagement and unfair treatment. Insecure bosses fear being overshadowed or replaced. They may see the subordinate's success as a threat to their own authority or career. A wealthier subordinate does not rely on his salary, which can make him harder to manage or less inclined to follow traditional rules; especially if they are unfair.

Personal envy arises if a subordinate has a better lifestyle i.e. more expensive car or home. A boss struggling with his own worth may feel threatened by a subordinate who appears more successful. Wealthier employees have highly specialised or unique skills that make them more valuable, causing the boss to feel insecure about his own position.
 
The subordinate might be bypassed for promotions or receive unfair performance reviews just because he is richer than his boss who will try to exert control by micromanaging the employee or become impatient or hostile.

No need to eat so much for lunch. Finish work on time at 6pm while JLB bosses who go JB for lunches reach office at 3pm. Customs have tight security these days due to US-IRAN war.
