Asian billionaires like PL won't not splurge their wealth on buying something like a football club.
Its hard to make money investing in and running a football club....it's more a hobby then business for billionaire owners.
Savvy PL won't spend a chunk of his billions like that....unless he has other designs lined up...
It's more for publicity....even if he was in it for real....he is likely only the front man forking out a small % with a group of investors behind him.
Thaksin and mancity is a good example.

Not so sure about all these guys "clean" reputation. some of these former stockbrokers are knwon to manipulate the "market "and euro leagues nowadays very wary of these shady characters. even that HK Carson guy could buy one club but got caught out and now faced money laundering charges . Football clubs are not clean and that's why alot of shady businessmen like to get one to white wash dirty money or do alot of otehr things. my sources says things not so simple. image and reputation counts alot. in business world vincent Tan still counts as relatively clean. PL not so sure. raffles town club saga just shows how crooked some of these businessmen are.

British clubs might be strict but I doubt that's the reason....
See the number of bookmakers and betting sites as jersey sponsors....
If F1 can ban cigs sponsors I dun see why soccer cannot do likewise with these bookmakers.
