The rumour within SMRT is that after Desmond Kwek was appointed CEO of SMRT, he clashed with several senior management staff due to differences in how things should be improved after the mess Saw left behind.

Unable to see thing eye to eye, Desmond eventually brought in his buddies in MINDEF and took care of their career. A major reshuffle was made and some of the senior staff resigned.

Those resigned took with them years of experience which were obviously not valued. What was left were the ex-MINDEF fellows who were new and unfamiliar with train operation. This of course hampered the pace of improving the service and is also the underlying reason why our train service never really improve after Saw left.

The organisation probably had forgotten the sole purpose of its existence and the important role it play in Singapore. The previous COE only focus on commercial entities within the company as she was trained in retail. As for the current COE, he is a soldier and prior to that, he was a student. That said, he is not considered by many to have not done real work before. He only commands.

Every organisation has a culture, this culture needs to be maintained and nurtured. It is what keeps the organisation on track to its most fundamental existence.

However, when an organisation is overrun by a sudden influx of new high management staff who has no idea why the organisation exist, the culture within and how the ground staff works, the organisation is in big trouble.

Once a culture is gone, it will never be the same again.

It is always better to train and nurture staff within so as to keep the culture going and allow staff to grow with the organisation. If an organisation claim otherwise, then its leaders has failed in their role to plan for succession and decided to take the easy way out by taking in external staff instead.

I'm sure there are other organisation who had the same experienced just like SMRT.

This country has been systematically ruined by SAF scholar nerds who have no inkling of what it takes to run a business, big or small. Anything new?

Don't forget to blame the Pink Aristocrat who had appointed them in the first place.

I think Desmond fucked up by bringing in folks who have no idea on how train ops work. Even if he was 'appointed' without any experience, he surely should have the brains to bring in people who can help him; rather than people he was familiar with. Trawl the damn world for experts in the field, hire them for a few years and tap their knowledge.

How the fuck was he made a General if he can't even do something simple like this? He got small cock syndrome is it?

The sky hasn't fallen in. There was a minor hiccup that lasted a couple of hours and everything is back to running smoothly and efficiently.

Why all the drama? You obviously haven't had a real dose of bad governance in your life.

Singapore has far bigger issues to tackle... like how to make sinkies more productive and hardworking. At the moment they're all infected with the entitlement mentality. They want big bucks with minimum effort.

to clear out the deadwood and those that do not share the same culture / objectives in bringing the organisation forward under a new leadership is not necessarily a bad thing. perhaps it was "too many, too soon" in getting rid of the experienced staff which should have been in a gradual manner and the influx of his saf kakis that set tongues wagging - and hoping that they would grow into the organisation over time, which we know that it's not working. the pappies must stop the culture of parachuting these cbl saf scholars into rewarding positions which pinkie perpetuates and is a beneficiary / recipient
that in turn, becomes a vicious cycle.

Let's get this straight.

Desmond the Quack only manages to do what he do, becos he was given a FREE hand to do so from the board ( aka shareholders ) of SMRT.

These are probably the same ones who sanctioned for Saw to come aboard.

The REAL underlying problem was NEVER solved, that is why you have a repeating version of this sort of issue.

Temasick owes more than 50% of the share with the rest of the cronies taking bits and there.

Your Sinkified problem was obvious from DAY 1 but becos Sinkie are fucking retards, they start to point fingers here and there but except on themselves for voting in such a ruling party!
