Why Paul Tambayh's vote share in a SMC he contested previous dropped but Dr Chee's increased in a SMC he never contested before?

As per topic above.

PAP absorbed Bukit Batok SMC into another GRC but retained Bukit Panjang. Why PAP was so confident with Bukit Panjang?

Bukit Panjang SMC shows that swing voters exist and good MPs get more votes

Politics
Bukit Panjang SMC in this GE is basically a rematch of what happened in 2020. We have the same candidates, Liang Eng Hwa vs Paul Tambyah, same boundaries, and no new housing.

In 2020, LEH and PT are both new to the SMC and basically blank canvases. People vote based on what they know about the party and what they hear about the candidates. In the end, it was a 54/46 split in favour of PAP.

In 2025, PT is basically still the same guy that he was while LEH is also the same guy but with 5 years as MP to prove himself. I don't want to shill what he has done (you can google if you want to know) but he has been active on the ground and in parliament. He has shown himself to be a good MP in many people's eyes which might be why he got an 8% swing in votes.

If say hypothetically PAP fielded a new/unlikeable candidate (eg. Marshall Lim) against PT, there's a good chance the seat would go to SDP.

TLDR: The quality of PAP candidates matter too, good ones get rewarded with votes while new or rubbish candidates risk losing their seat.

Cos he was useful during COVID as an infectious disease expert. But now that COVID is a relic, his importance is diminished.

How much is the annual membership fee for SDP ? Blue CHAS got discount or not ? I might consider joining.

If got 15% discount at Orange & Teal outlet, lagi best.

LEH in Bukit Panjang is the male version of SXL in Punggol West.

Next GE, strong opposition party should avoid any constituency where the incumbent PAP MP's ground work is solid -Sun Xueling, Ting Pei Ling, Liang Eng Hwa, etc. Let those opposition clowns contest against them. Ng Chee Meng never done much ground work, he still won.

NCM won because LHL and LW was his mouth piece to provide corroborative support. Very different from LEH vs PT.

Actually I still cannot understand the logic behind when people need to see which candidate the pap front and the candidate oppie fronting.

Is it becos if a pap candidate they find it good and credible means they think this fella will help them fight for their needs in parliament?

Or is it becos they think this good credible candidate can leecorate their town into better living enviroment?

I stood outside both outlets. The menu prices too hiso for me. No CHAS discount. I U-turned and bought MacDonald's $5 value meal.
That McDonald's $5 value meal chicken burger has the smallest chicken patty on earth.

Nothing about parliament. It's all about how the estate is being run. Badly run, the constituents becomes the first direct victims of their vote choice. Town Council management has become more important and relevant in GE.

It's because they don't understand the Westminster parliamentary system. And PAP is happy to keep it that way.

These are the people who love watching Man Utd vs Man Utd in FA Cup Final.

I think so and I just need some views on this.
I can read gansiokbin mind when she mentioned the oppie in her ward cannot make it so she shall vote pap.
So my take is she wanted to vote pap to leecorate her Mayfair nicely together she leecorate her hole nicely for 嫖客 to visit.

Those without covered walkways want covered walkways. Those with covered walkways want to ensure that they are properly maintained and the list goes on. Estate management expertise factor generally benefits PAP candidates because no other political party other than WP has experience in running a TC. Even for WP, it took them a while and many law suits before they got it right. Hence you see no dips in votes share for Hougang, Aljunied and Sengkang. The moment they slack, whether PAP or WP, it translates to instant vote loss in the next GE

I had also communicated with several parties online mostly are strangers.
They all shared the same thought as gansiokbin I.e oppies cannot make it so they shall vote pap. But they never indicate and leefused to answer when I asked them what's the meaning of "cannot make it" in this context.
So I assumed they are voting for the benefits of their town management more than the overall national benefits.
