I find it weird that no one is advocating for the abolishment of the CPF.

So what if they return your CPF today? Future generations will still be screwed.

If we adhere to the Spirit of Freedom, we should call for the abolishment of the CPF.

Anyone should be free to use his or her money in any way that he or she likes. It is not up to the government to dictate it.

Just like anyone should be free to use his or her time on this planet in any way that he or she likes. It is not up to the government to dictate that you must sacrifice 2 or more years of your life to do something that is repulsive to you.

Both the systems of CPF and National Conscription must be abolished in order to return true freedom to the people. These two institutions are basically modern versions of slavery.

How else would Ho Ching get her gambling funds? ;)

If CPF is abolished, employers will no longer have to contribute their share of the monthly contributions and your income will drop.

CPF enabled me to invest far more in property because it helped monthly cash flow. I had to fork out very little from my take home pay. The majority of the loan was serviced with CPF funds.

It is evident that Singaporeans need a paternalistic type authority to tell them what to do, how to behave, what is right, what is wrong and just about everything else that governs life. And many believe that it is doing them good. The system that exists today came about from the previous generation's acceptance of Old Harry's idea of how society should be. They never questioned it, and today it has become entrenched in the mindset of the community. Study hard, obey the law, follow the system, you will succeed in life. From the looks of things, few people want any major changes.

Cheers!

I actually do think that employers do factor in their part of CPF contributions into your pay package. Which means that if CPF is abolished, you will still get the same pay package, except that you get them all in cash.

No employer would be so stupid as not to factor in their part of CPF contributions into your pay package. It makes no business sense at all.

Unless there is a manpower shortage, this won't happen. As a business owner, I succeeded in slashing staff overheads in various ways but I never passed on the savings achieved to the employees. I kept it for other purposes.

I still believe otherwise. An expense is still an expense by any other name to a business. The employer/employee contribution ratio is just some fancy contortion.

You dare to count the employer's contribution as your income ah? Can't see, can't touch, can't use ...it is not yours.
Replace the CPF with a real pension. Contribution from employee and employer limited to 5 percent each. Sinkee can then use the 15 percent to create a second leg of retirement income.

You're truly exceptional. We acknowledge that. No more bragging, okay?
