Agree that runoff voting is good as it ensures the winner has the majority of the votes -or the support of the majority of the population.
A President who wins only 35% of the votes means "close to two thirds rebuffed him" (ST Aug 28,2011 front page)
He lacks moral authority and can only claim to be a minority president.When he addresses the people eg at NDP, 2/3 of those standing before him
does not want or recognise him as their Head of State.
Can you have a company Chairman who wins only 35% of the votes from shareholders ?-so much for Singapore Inc.
