There is a Chinese wish for good fortune, "Wu Fu Lin Men" which means wishing someone with 5 good fortunes. I was surprised to learn that the last of the 5 good fortune is "ease/painless death". The common belief is to accumulate good deeds if one wish for a quick easy death.

After we cease to exist in this physical life, we take our learned knowledge and experience with us and deposit them into a collective made up of every other beings' lessons and experiences and this collective grows in wisdom. Sinkie's woes might seem a big deal - but that's only to Sinkies. Looking at humanity as a whole on our planet, Singapore doesn't register, not even a speck of significance. Whilst here in the forum, coffee-shops and other get-together places Sinkies gripe about gahmen and cost of living matters, elsewhere, nobody even knows, let alone care. To the world, Singapore is a well managed and well governed place where things work and people are prosperous with a high standard of living. And the PAP is the best team to lead the nation. After being elected repeatedly over the years, it is quite rational to assume there is truth in this, although I disagree. There is after all, an election once every five years - its all up to the voters.
