I think one thing we have to remember that not all sinkee chinese were from the south. I remember reading one sinkee girl saying her mum came from northern china, shanghai i think.

if you want to order in Malay or Tamil, maybe you can try Nasi Lemak or Mee Goreng stalls?

Only the other day I was at Guardian drugs & I asked a sales person where they kept a certain product. Received a blank stare, surprised that Guardian drugs is hiring PRC staff who don't understand english. This wasn't in some PRC enclave like Chinatown but in a touristy place like Bugis.

Actually i have kwai lan look but i ask properly. No, most hawkers are local. If PRC i only speak in English and if they cannot understand I get very rude and abusive with them and they run away... peeing in their pants or panties if they wearing any....I try not to patronize PRC staffed hawkers if i can although this day and age getting damn difft. So many of these SHITS around..
