First time in history that a government decides to import millions of foreign nationals to boost its population and gives these millions equal if not more rights than its native local born citizens.
What has motivated the government?
A simple usual reason given is that local Singaporenas do not procreate. This is not true. If you want to boost the population it should not be done within a short period of less than 5 years.
The dismantling of Singapore identity started long before the import of foreigners. The PAP has been doing this all the time. If I ask you " what monument in Singapore can really give it a good representation?" you will not be able to answer. This is because the Garment has been tearing down every single building that can possibly represent Singapore, in the name of progress. It is as if the Garment is ashome of its past, and no effort was made to retain history.
China Town is a very good example, it used to be a buzzling street ful of life and this attracted huge tourist interests, but the Garment at the time decided that the site was ugly, built a huge hawker centre to "relocate" the people, it ended up with a dead street and took a long time before the place came to life again, even so, it is not what it used to be, the place now is purely on tourist business, nothing else.
Haw Par villa is another example, it was a must see attraction in the past and the garment have to meddle with it, creating a " theme park", charging SGD16 per head for entrance. It ended up with the collapse of the villa and now almost in ruins.
