Why I think it is so hard to get foreign workers...

I know that many foreign female who apply for work permit actually works for fake company. They pay the company to get employment but their real job was to be FL. The agencies do not do much as long as the company pay for the permits.

These people takes up the quota for the workers so proper companies who needs worker cannot get. End of the day, the problem could very well be an enforcement issue.

THE National Environment Agency (NEA) has reportedly raised cleaning fees for hawker centres, by some two- to three-fold, citing an increase in wages for cleaners ("Hawkers hit out at hike in cleaning fees"; last Thursday).

Yet, reports indicate that cleaners' wages have only increased by 10 per cent to 20 per cent.

The significant disparity between the massive hike in cleaning fees imposed by the NEA and the modest increase in cleaners' wages is puzzling and remains unexplained.

Hawker food prices have already increased, and I am concerned that the NEA's hike will prompt another round of price increases for hawker fare.
