Why does a shipment from HK take longer than a shipment from the US?

i'm ordering something from HK and the site gave me a tracking number on hongkong post. Checked it and nothing showed up but they have the links of the postal sites of the destination countries they send the mail to. So i get brought to speedpost. I call up speed post and speak to the cso and am told it takes 7 working days excluding sat and sundays. This is actually even slower than when i order from the US using dhl. I order something on say monday night and by friday morning or sometimes thursday night i'll get it.

I suppose it's due to the fucked upness of the HK post and speed post compared to dhl. Unfortunately the HK site doesn't allow any shipping options.

it is due to ang mor being first world and asian are just copying what ang mor do and they don't copy it well.

maybe HK people dislike cowards so they purposely make it slow to places filled with coward losers.

does hk post tracking number indicates last known status like "from shenzhen to singapore on date xxxxx" if not, the item is probably still in hk or china.

I think it does but they don't update it all the time. They probably wait a few days later then they update it. If you have shipped using dhl you can be assured you know in which part of the package it is in the US for eg then you need to wait for some time for the package to arrive in asia for eg and when it does you get up to date info on which part of asia it is. I was able to track which part of the us my package was and then when it arrived in hk and when it left hk and when it arrived in sg, cleared customs and then out for delivery. Obviously HK post doesn't have this. They'll probably update once and then it'll just show up one day.

Tell you something worse. Once i ordered some charging wire from a china site. I chose the cheapest shipping method since it's just a dumb wire and it's stupid to choose more expensive shipping. Told it would take 15 days but it never arrived. I thought it got lost but i couldn't be bothered to actually try and call up the ppl in china to find out. Then 1 month later it actually showed up at my house when i least expected it.

When you ship from places like china the good thing is you'll get a good surprise unlike using dhl.

think hk post / chinapost do update the status at all times when item is in transit at china. once item leaves china for singapore, they no longer update. you can only check the status via singpost when item clears sg customs and on way to post office.

shipped items are sometimes stuck at sg customs forever. sigh...

when you are sending using normal post it will take longer from HK, but using DHL etc will be faster,Buy you pay more for DHL, same for if you send the item from HK or US. Most of this normal mail or DHL will send out from HK-shenzhen-Hk-SIN

Use USPS priority can leow.

DHL is crap and slow, try tracking using just a reference if you don't know the service class selected by sender. And confirm kenna GST if value meet threshold, DHL local in sinkieland will charge additional sgd10 service fee in addition to shipping charges if they clear GST on your behalf:*:

EMS express from Hong Kong is fast, normally 3 days.
