I come here to pass the time and normally read the stuff with a light heart accompanied with a good natured laugh or chuckle. But this opening statement of yours is something I have to disagree with - totally. The ST doesn't even carry a daily crossword puzzle like every other decent English daily the world over. It is a crappy paper by my standards and I do not subscribe to it.

I will not even bother to discuss the word twisting it employs to support the nation's policy makers as that is its operating agenda. Suffice to say it is substandard. Sorry its the main daily paper of the country and the one her citizens have to rely on daily news. Hopefully they keep to the sports section.

I think ST reports on international news are quite up to standard and thorough. As for local political news I need to balance off from other sources.

Nothing to skew when it comes to foreign news. They'd report it as they received it and treat it as just news. But the editorial's opinion on policies are always in support or defence of the government's decision. I can't remember anything political in nature as it doesn't concern me, but one that affected me was the engine guards the ROV implemented (for a while) on motorcycles above 200c.c. The ST called them "crash bars." The entire motorcyle industry called these "engine guards" and were meant to protect the engine crankcases from abrasion when the machine drops. By calling them "crash bars" the ST made it sound as though the ROV was implementing them for the rider's safety. The law was enacted and all bikes in that category were required to install them (even trail bikes!!). That law was soon revoked as it posed a danger to the riders and restricted their manuverability. Just a thought I wanted to share.
