This is a bailout of SMRT and it is totally unnecessary. Let SMRT collapse instead of using public money to bailout an inefficiency organization that chooses to stupidly reward its executives, including the CEO, for incompetence.

If LTA cut SMRT, our MRT will still do fine. This new arrangement will only to more public dollars going to SMRT to pay its CEO, another million or two more. LTA will take on most of the risk while SMRT just gets paid with no risks.

If LTA wants to own the assets of the SMRT, then it should run it as well instead of SMRT juicing us.

We are the only people on this earth paying everything over & over again...for instance, we have direct & plenty of indirect taxes that we beget LTA, then we travel in trains run by a listed company that is majority owned by the same people that beget LTA. So, we are paying direct & indirect taxes to get LTA & paying indirect taxes when travelling on SMRT trains as in GST etc..

Aren't we paying so many times over?? Strange isn't it, a government is paying for the hardware that run transport companies that is shareholders held...it does not get any stranger that the government itself is a shareholder...

its for ur own benefit,if smrt is not secretly subsidized by the taxpayers and is a true standalone company/organization,they would have to increase fare hikes by 200% just to break even.each time u take the bus it will cost u $2.80 minimum.each time u board the mrt it will cost u $4.but now u can sleep soundly knowing that someone somewhere is subsidizing ur bus and train fare but it wont be coming directly out of ur pockets.
