Serious Why do we even need a high speed rail between Zikapore and Matlaysia?

Prices in JB are the most expensive in Malaysia. Can get things cheaper further up north.
Used to go to JB regularly but I'm now finding it more crowded as more Sporeans have discovered JB. Maybe the trains will help relieve the bottlekneck?

I don't know why toilet paper in JB are almost same price in SG.
goat milk powder in jb cost only 1/3 in Sg

The Terrex incident will derail the Japs bid....it will go to the chinese.

Sissy Loong is sending his sissy General CHan to offer this turkey to the Chinese in return to close the Terrex case..

I remember asking a JB resident why some things are the same price as Spore & he told me that even though JB is nearer to Spore than KL, they still have to get items from KL. So you can imagine the transport costs within Malaysia.

The same situation applies in Indonesia where Batam residents have to get all imported items via Jakarta. They are not allowed to get them directly from Spore even if it can be cheaper.

it will help traffick prc prostitutes between the 2 cities in a more productive and efficient manner without tiong hookers sitting idle on a plane for an hour and a couple of hours at airports. on the train, atb's can still serve multiple clients on the 3-hour ride.

It is a game changer. The HSR is a pet project of Najib and LHL. Both of them had multiple discussions on how to improve bilateral trade and relations. This is the one of the key outcomes of the bilateral discussion. The aim is to promote economic growth by doing more businesses with one another via greater connectivity and closeness.

Of course, you can still travel to KL from Singapore via flights and/or cars. But the HSR can cut down the travel time from 5 hours to just 90 mins. With this arrangement, you can close a deal in the morning, go for lunch in KL and come back to Singapore on the same day. Your boss is happy. Your wife is happy.

But really, if you have seen the URA Master Plan, the Singapore HSR terminus which ends in Jurong East ( now the defunct Jurong Country Club ) is part of the bigger scheme of things to come. The whole Jurong East region is going to be the central hub for entertainment, shopping , medical and leisure. In fact , it is going to be the second CBD ; aptly named the Jurong Lake District.

I think this is a bullshit project. There is no way that it will be 90 mins between SIN and KL. There are 6 stops along the way. A direct plane flight is already 70 mins on its own betwen Changi and KLIA. 90 mins is maybe with no stopping in between, but that is not going to happen. With the stops and all that, maybe it will be 2 hours or more. Still better then the current 5 hours. But not superior to flying. Flying to KL with the taxi ride from KLIA to downtown KL all in about 2 hours too. My big question is do the Malaysians have the cultural and societal values to leave the high speed rail line alone? Will goats be herded on the tracks? Will people keep clear of the tracks and not interfere with the operations of the high speed train. We can trust the Japanese to do that. Ditto for the French and Germans. Even the PRC Chinese can do that. But I don't know whether a 3rd world mindset like Malaysians have will ensure the safe operations of the HSR.

I have not seen any stats at all on the human flow between SIngapore and Malaysia. But I would venture to guess that more then 50% of all activity between the 2 countries happens in JB. I mean every day, over 200,000 malaysians cross into SIngapore to work and study. And countless numbers of Sinkies do the same or to shop. If the majority of all human transactions with malaysia occurs with JB, why not build the MRT extension into JB? The HSR's first stop is planned to be JB, but after that don't know how much traffic will head up to KL.
