“After the tender is open in the final quarter of 2017, bidders will be given a year to submit. Then the two countries will do the evaluation,” Mohd Nur was quoted as saying by the Singapore press on Friday.
But Ong expressed concerns over the project’s huge cost. “We are concerned that this will be another off-budget, big-ticket infrastructure expenditure item that will have significant consequences on government finances in the future, especially if the high-speed rail line proves to be unprofitable,” he said.
“The question should be, does the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route need to be served by a high-speed rail link. We have over a hundred flights a week from KL to Singapore via low-cost carriers as well as full-fare carriers. We have thousands of buses plying the Singapore-KL bus route.”

Given its high cost, the line is unlikely to be commercially viable without substantial financial support in the form of concessionary financing or partial absorption of capital costs by the two governments, and the selected source country, said Yeah Kim Leng, professor of economics at Sunway University Business School, in Malaysia.

some govt officials and GLCs are going to make a lot of money from this project.

Singapore is the sick man of asia now. can SG afford this high expenditure item?

from article ...

“But given the involvement of the Singapore government, and perhaps concerns about the safety record of some Chinese rail companies, my sense is that Japanese companies are likely to be given serious consideration as well.” ...

ah loon n his jingang can gif 1 back 2 ah 11 ...

The rail project will probably done by a PRC chinese company. I wonder why the PAP are rewarding the chinese especially since the armoured cars are still stuck in HK:confused:

LHL could have used the project as leverage to put pressure on China to release the cars.

If he does that, China will fuck up his wife's multibillion $ investments in China, and then she will have no bonus to take home. Acceptable to him or not?

That has never stopped a corrupt gov't. Must be why 70% voted for the PAP

To a corrupt govt, doing wrong things are not wrong.
So only to a corrupt govt collecting more money is not wrong

Mats service technicians would probably fark it up!

It is part of Najib's retirement plan ...there are lots of dough for him to make from this project.

I need to go shopping in johor, things are bloody exp here.also high speed train is unnecessary, just a mrt will do.

It is a game changer. The HSR is a pet project of Najib and LHL. Both of them had multiple discussions on how to improve bilateral trade and relations. This is the one of the key outcomes of the bilateral discussion. The aim is to promote economic growth by doing more businesses with one another via greater connectivity and closeness.

Of course, you can still travel to KL from Singapore via flights and/or cars. But the HSR can cut down the travel time from 5 hours to just 90 mins. With this arrangement, you can close a deal in the morning, go for lunch in KL and come back to Singapore on the same day. Your boss is happy. Your wife is happy.

But really, if you have seen the URA Master Plan, the Singapore HSR terminus which ends in Jurong East ( now the defunct Jurong Country Club ) is part of the bigger scheme of things to come. The whole Jurong East region is going to be the central hub for entertainment, shopping , medical and leisure. In fact , it is going to be the second CBD ; aptly named the Jurong Lake District.

With faggot Loong as your PM, it is better off not doing anything expensive, who knows he will screwed up yet again.

But that is what stupid sinkie shit voted for.. So enjoy getting screwed more.

Prices in JB are the most expensive in Malaysia. Can get things cheaper further up north.
Used to go to JB regularly but I'm now finding it more crowded as more Sporeans have discovered JB. Maybe the trains will help relieve the bottlekneck?

with bigger faggots like ms vivian... doing it cheap will not help either

I've heard rumors of the loses but I wonder whether Spore is really making any money from China? Or should I ask if the PAP & their cronies are making $$$?

Other than getting cheap defective trains & elevators I doubt that the "lesser mortals" of Sporeans are getting any benefits from the relationship. There are already too many PRC chinese in Spore: ping pong players, hookers, criminals, economic refugees, construction companies,.... If they disappeared tomorrow life would go on as usual. Don't forget that there was a time when Spore had zero PRC chinese.

There are many things that LHL could do to make life harder for them in Spore but he has "personal" interests to consider ;)
