Why after injecting $1.1 billion, bus fare still increase

In countries where bus drivers are paid $60k per year, the bus trips are ridiculously expensive. In NZ, it would cost me almost $15 to town and back. I can make the same journey by car and pay for 4 hours of parking and still come out on top.

How much a Toyota 86 cost there? :oIo::kma:

Pappies specifically said the 1.1 billion is for bus companies to buy new buses.
Fare increase is because costs have gone up.
2 separate issues....but both ultimately is to fatten the wallets of their cronies/proxies.
Welcome to Singapore....dealing with pappies is worst than SLS salesmen.

how about salary? and NZ salmon, fresh seasfood, milk, eggs etc and berries?

It's all available on the net. NZ is not a rich country and prices at the supermarket are extremely high. NZ products are cheaper overseas than they are in NZ.

I found this article which was quite interesting.

[h=1]Money: the cost of living in New Zealand[/h]February 20, 2013 by steve 3 Comments
Life in New Zealand is undeniably most pleasant, but the cost of living in New Zealand is high — often quite inexplicably so. I’ve been reminded of this fact once again this week, as I prepare to have a cooker shipped here from the UK. We’re having our kitchen remodeled — it’s part of an extension that was added to our 1920 bungalow in, we believe, the 1960s, and it’s showing its age — and as part of the project, we decided to look at a new cooker. The model we decided we wanted — oh, we really wanted it, when we saw it at Harvey Norman — was a fantastic piece of kitchen technology, but one that, at six and a half thousand dollars, was, well, just a little out of our reach.

What about ministers' salaries?

Salaries are lower but if you add in all the perks, they are outrageously paid compared to the work they do. There are all sorts of hidden perks that make it next to impossible for the average man on the street to figure out their total renumeration.

The total cost of the NZ government is probably higher than the total cost of the Singapore government simply because there are so many more of them. Almost the whole Wellington economy is driven by the spending of bureaucrats and politicians.

Because the driving wheels are all encrusted in gold.

Because singkies got no fucking balls or clitoris and voted an voted and voted for PAP maggots cockroaches lead by smear of shit on sole of shoe LKY

And they all shit into their toilet bowls made from solid gold and not just merely encrusted in gold.

SINGKIES GOT WHAT THEY FUCKING VOTED FOR
TO BE FUCKED AND SCREWED BY PAP UNTIL PAP ALL SHIOK SHIOK

Whatever arguments here, just be prepared for a 5 to 7 cents increase for each bus trip comes 2014. They don't appoint a transport minister with the surname "Lui" there for nothing.

Sinkieland minsters got no hidden perks?
How come they did not publicize how many months of bonuses they got?
Heard it was as high as 48 months!!!

I'm not saying the Singapore Ministers don't have perks. All I'm saying is that ALL politicians the world over pay themselves very well using other people's money.

If you are always in praise of the PAPies, I don't understand why you can't do the same for the NZ government? After all, they had learned and adopted many things from the PAPies' style of governance as well.

I pay taxes to feed the government.

I pay outrageous rates to feed the local body politicians eg Mayor, Council CEO.

I pay more rates to sustain the Health Board.

I pay thousands annually for nation wide accident insurance.

If you add everything up, I'm paying more to politicians than Singaporeans are.

The PAP is well paid but they deliver progress. The NZ government generates hot air but nothing changes.

Do the NZ politicans bring in foreign Trash and pretend those are foreign Talents?

All politicians treat the electorate like dirt and NZ is no exception. They too let in all sorts of scum into the country and the taxpayer then has to pay for their benefits.

The NZ politicians don't use toothpicks. They use dental floss. However, there are many crooks in NZ parliament. One was recently caught stealing from his own mother!

[h=3]Expulsion from NZ First[edit][/h]In November 2012 Horan was accused of taking money from his dying mother's bank account and spending it on gambling.[SUP][8][/SUP] At first Winston Peters refused to say whether he still had confidence in Horan,[SUP][9][/SUP] but on 4 December expelled him from the party.[SUP][2][/SUP] Horan wasn't informed until Peters made the announcement in Parliament.[SUP][10][/SUP]

Not true. I have been to countries where it is a flat fee like $3, and you can travel in either direction within a time limit of 2 hours. So, you could just pay one fare to run go do a quick shopping and then get home.

Don't forget that in some countries you can get a day, week, monthly bus pass which allows you unlimited travel during the duration of the pass.

Sinkie crooks rob peasants. :kma:

The money has to come from somewhere to subsidize the travel and it is usually from the pockets of the ratepayers which is you and I.

In Auckland, the rate payers are stung to the tune of $116 MILLION dollars annually to subsidize discounted transport schemes.

At the end of the day, the devil is always in the details. Things are never as rosy as they look. I learned that very quickly after emigrating.

Those of you think the PAP is bad should get a taste of what it's like to be governed by a paralysed parliament that debates issues to death but gets nothing done.

You try to go town in SG and see $15 is enough anot?

If every goes by car, it's pretty obvious the bus companies in NZ are unable to achieve economies of scale and have to charge higher to mantain their profit margins.
