because over 200 years ago the most convenient day was a tuesday for farmers, merchants, townsfolk. there used to be a religious holiday called all saints day celebrated at end of october or beginning of november (thus poll workers couldn’t work), followed by church on sunday for most protestant americans then. moreover, catholics and jews attend religious events on saturday. first monday of each month was book clearing/ reconciliation day for merchants. first wednesday was market day for farmers. and they had to start early november as it took time to tally up the votes from 13 former colonies and several states after formation of u.s.a. (no technology then and mail-in ballot was not an option yet with no federal postal service until 1792).Sorry to ask a silly question . Why US Election Day is not falls on weekend ? I stay in Singapore for too long and always think that Election Day should fall on weekend . Pls answer @eatshitndie @blackmondy @laksaboy
