WP didn't contest Sembawang GRC in 2011. SDP did.
Even with James Gomez at the helm in the opposition team, they still managed to garner a respectable 36%.
We have to remember that James Gomez has been thoroughly character assassinated by the MIW and the prostitute press with the James Gomes saga in 2001 (with WP - did not filled in the form correctly with the name of the GRC they intended to contest missing) and in 2006 (also with WP - he failed to submit his own form and was captured by the CCTV). Besides James Gomez is not based in Singapore - hence zero visibility. Ditto for most of the team mates.
Come 2016, should SDP put up a better team, they maybe able to turn the table especially when we have seen how disgraceful that cow and ah neh nair performed in recent time.
Talking about that PAP team, honestly which MP in that GRC impressed anybody here? Zero for me.
Just hope the opposition spend more time on the grassroot, to work on the ground, just like WP did in Aljunied GRC before the 2011 election.
Now is an opportune time to start having serious discussion among the opposition parties to decide what they want to do, in which area, given the widespread negative sentiment generated from that white paper as well as the positive vibes from the recent PE BE.
I hope the opposition can come together and map out strategies to avoid MCF in 2016.
