Could be pompous. Equally possible for there to be other reasons which are none of anybody else's concern. Some of these may be found in this link. There could be more.

Besides, in Hongkieland, I have had my fair share of subordinates with strange names. Those with traditional names don't necessarily perform better than those with "strange" names. As far as I am concerned, it is the work performance that counts. In other words, they or their parents are not necessarily gongkias because of names or naming conventions which might sound "strange" to Sinkies. I sense that the Un-Sinkification will be long and arduous. Far harder than throwing out the PAPzis. Cheers.

The whole thing is unfair to the MAN of SINgapore!!, not that I support underage sex!. The underage girl, lied her age, make money out of the men, & is protected by law (AWARE), while the men are name & shamed. This must be changed, where is the "based on justice & equality"??
