While FTs are upgrading, Singaporeans are downgrading

FOR LOCALS, LIFE IS ABOUT DOWNGRADING.

More than 1,800 people have downgraded to a smaller flat since the rules were relaxed two months ago.

The HDB has received more than 4,000 applications for second concessionary loan.

So far, about 1,800 applicants were successful.

About a quarter of applications were rejected, while the rest are still being processed.

Previously, only households that are upgrading to a bigger flat type are eligible to apply for a second concessionary loan from HDB.

This is a sad fact of life under the present regime.

You can see more and more Filipinos, mainland Chinese,Indians (from India) and even Burmese staying in condo's while on the other hand locals are downgrading.

There is a direct relationship-the Singaporeans who are jobless are forced to downgrade while FT's who take over their jobs are living it up in condos.

So is this the Singapore dream ?
On retirement
a) if you have not paid off your 30 years mortgage-downgrade to 3/2 room
flat .Wake up to the smell of urine in your lifts and cigarettes smoke from
your PRC neighbors. Go and work as taxi driver, dish washer, table cleaner,
toilet cleaner, road sweeper,serving the Filipinos, mainland
Chinese/Indians and Burmese.Go to sleep thanking the 'god' for bringing in
these spurs into your hide.

b) Sell/reverse mortgage your only possession ( HDB flat) and retire to JB or
Batam.If you are lucky your children who are working their butts off
to pay their mortgage/maid levy/kids tuition ect2-may remember to
visit you.

Many may of course not even achieve the above dreams as they will be retrenched by 40 to make way for Filipino, mainland Chinese/Indians, and
Burmese.
How are they going to survive when they have not paid off the mortgage of the properties they bought at historical peak?
Maybe they should look for work as maids,sweepers, ect2 in Burmese Town(formerly known as Bukit Batok ?), Big India ( located in the east coast), New Manila (formerly Yishun) or in most condos where the PRC's
who came to town carrying sacks of money predominate.
