When Her World magazine set about picking the Woman of the Year and Young Woman Achiever for its 50th anniversary, it received a slew of entries. But after sifting through the nominees, it picked winners who would be remembered long after the confetti from yesterday's ball has been swept away.
For the Woman of the Year, the magazine picked Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, who gained a place in Singapore's history books by becoming the first woman full minister in April last year. For its Young Woman Achiever award, the women's magazine picked the first Singaporean women to scale Mount Everest. It was the first time the magazine had handed out an award to a team.
