Try talking to PRs about local politics or even local news and they draw a blank stare. However if u talk about Malaysian elections or Indon politics and their eyes light up. This tells me that they r not interested in our local situation, no interest to participate, no interest to make things better and their only interests is to make money so that they can retire happy back home. they are not interested and not keen to discuss anything. they are afraid you might be spies or government men. so they just laugh and pretend not to know anything. they come here and get all the benefits and most of them will leave.....singapore will be the great loser in the end.

I suggest you also talk to recent Singapore émigrés to Australia. I doubt they care much about Australian politics. They are likely to be caught up in Singapore political events. Even the host of this forum, a longtime refugee from Singapore, is making a living out of Singapore news. As for the PRs here, why should they care about local politics? The government wants them here and will take care of them. They do not see a future here. They are here to make a living. If the government changes and become less friendly to them, they can leave anytime. Even a new government will not change policies overnight. They have somewhere to go to, unlike you.
