With the property market cooling, banks giving miserly interests, gold stagnating and stock market directionless....what sort of investments are attractive, for say, a sum of $300K now?

Any gurus out there?

Cash is king. When everybody is doing something, you don't follow what they do. Keeping is of no harm, when no one is buying property, no one is buying stocks, that is the best time to do what others fear doing :p This is what you should do if you want to compound your money few folds

300k is a comfy sum to roll.... take ur pick -1)RWS , 2)MBS... just walk in ask the floor manager to usher you into the VIPs and start rolling... Roll over the ocean, roll over the sea, roll and roll for community!

It's a no-brainer.

Has to be equities given the low interest rate environment.

Do you think it's a good idea to buy renminbi, you think the upside potential is still good?

At this period of time, it's better to be safe than sorry. :p

southward volatility i meant... :D:D

chinkandoo: Reminibi is good but it will be slow and gradual upward. Unless u have big money and patience, 300K is hardly a grain of sand in money exchange.

$300K is neither big nor small but if you use it effectively, you would be amazed by its compounding capabilities.

Go with an aim to get an annual return of 10% (5% capital appreciation and 5% from dividends) from the equity market. Think long term and though the economy is still fuzzy and may potentially go up and down, the returns over the horizon looks good especially for a place like Asia.

If you can achieve that annually, then you are seeing your money doubling in around 7 years' time.:):):)

Short the sterling. Ignore what the official forecasts are. Britain is in much much more trouble than the media would like you to think.
