What the fuck is a One-Ton Gun?

reddit says it's basically a remotely operated heavy machine gun mounted on a Nissan. and it contained a bomb to self-destruct so it became one ton.

sounds like the tech they employ on their border sentry posts.
No man. This tech is way more sophisticated. The target was in a moving vehicle, and the fact they hit no one else even though the wife was only 10in away indicates the use of facial recognition and incredible accuracy and smoothness of the RWS. Also, a Nissan pickup bed is a light vehicle, if you jump on the bed, the truck will sway. So somehow, they made the truckbed solid and stable enough to handle the recoil from the RWS. Not to mention the remote link to control the RWS. Was it a satlink or something else? Probably they need to stabilize the truck bed with something heavy. Usually like concrete blocks of bricks. So, instead of doing that, they used explosives to make up the weight. And then they needed a second remote trigger to blow the explosives up. This is like really hi tech shit here.

it's impressive the lengths they go to, to avoid collateral damage.

soon we will have lasers zapping targets from space.

this mission required a gun mounted on the RCWS with pin point accuracy with very few shots fired. So you can rule out most mechanical gas operated guns. It could have been a modified sniper e-gun to feed and fire by electronics and software. You can also rule out 50 calibre rounds. Likely a Lapua round which Accuracy Intl. AT sniper rifles are known for. No collateral damage.

I would imagine the wanton gun to be something like this.
