Perhaps it is not a matter of being 'Handsome' but in reality, it's all about 'Pleasant looking', as such is how one gets that precious few minutes into the door of acceptance in work and love life....1st Impression counts and proven in the history of Human Civilization....
No female partner in life or an employer would want someone who looks downcast, sour and dour, regardless if in Frontline facing clients or back office/workplace, into their life or company. It's about appearances, but it is NOT the only factor that one stays long with another, regardless in relationship or employment.
As Singapore had progressed far and wide than our hardworking Founding and forefathers could had imagined, the insignificant nobody me believes that at least most Singaporeans are pleasant enough to be accepted by others, not just from that few minutes of acceptance, but in their daily lives that would hold meaning to others in their journey of life.
Just to share experiences on a personal level, I do not look like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, but certainly better looking than the communist zhongguo ren of current communist China dynasty (中国人) Wu Jing of Wolf Warrior movie fame played up for the usual current communist dynasty of China for propaganda purposes but ultimately found out to be lout to his family and wife.....
With my simple and pleasant looks, my healthy physique as well as my education achievements, I did manage to gain acceptance thru Humankind's perceptions with women and employers, BUT I had to work harder than anyone else to step up the ladder, and not rely just on phyical looks to get my way as Singapore /foreign women and employers are NOT morons. They may be fooled for sometime but NEVER ALL THE TIME.
I am NOT perfect but flawed like every mortal on planet Earth. However, I readily admit to my mistakes when proven wrong, learn from it, correct such, so as to progress not just myself, but others around me....
Being pleasant looking is not just on looks alone. It's the details, the neat hair, fresh and clean clothes and body odor, the smile, the calm, honest, methodical and clinical responses to difficult questions, the air of confidence that one projects, working hard and smart when the chance is given, not just once, but all the time.
( Just to add, I cannot understand why most of our Malay Muslims of Polynesian DNA would want to keep beards like their mental colonizers - Arabs, instead of being clean shaven to project a tidy face. It is horrifying to see them with leftovers from meals stuck to their scruffy beards, such as rice grains, meat, oils, etc.... )
