Singapore once had a real shot at building its own TSMC. Today, it produces none of the world’s most advanced chips. This is the untold story of how that happened.

Singapore can never be a leader in Wafer Fab. Land is expensive, electricity is expensive and especially, water is expensive. Water usage is very high for wafer fabs.

Lack of will and $$$$
Wafer Fab is an expensive game…u look at Germany and Nippon, u know

Sold off to the highest bidder. Similar to NOL.

The PAP regime could have sold off SPH/Shitty Times too, but totalitarian regimes need to take control of the media outlet for its propaganda value. The profit motive is disregarded.

ST Engineering and all its siblings are retirement villages for useless sinkies, you won't learn anything from working there

PAP fuck up that we don't have a TMSC here.

Should have closed down Mediacorp too, lousy drama production and uninteresting news.

Taiwan's TSMC owes its success to strategic initiatives taken during the 1960s and 1970s under Chiang's leadership. During this period, Taiwan began developing its semiconductor industry by sending individuals to the United States for education and work experience. These professionals later returned to Taiwan, bringing their expertise to establish and grow the country's semiconductor industry.

SSMC failed not because of expensive land or employees...

Its failed because of its management system is same as PAP..

Many of our minitoots own real estates, sell them and rent them here. They wanted their estate business to thrive and hack care about industrialisation. Don't expect we can produce world leader in innovations.
