Every NDP, you see one contingent of PAP - RC people carrying PAP flags , wear white and march thru the grandstand !
Why like that ?

NDP is oredi celebrated island wide ---schools and void decks , you name it, the RC running people are there to make sure you see sinkapore flags…..you see why flags are selling well to the RC running people ! Well done Rc running people….so mush of hard work huh ?

Opposition parties should have a contingent at the NDP also to show unity and love for the country !

Opposition parties are not enemy of the people, they speak up for the people good for the cuntry , only those parties who speak for themselves are real enemy of the people !

Ask you straight , which PAP minister speaks for the people vehemently and fight to overturn bad policies ? Tell us please !

Not letting opposition parties having a contingent to march at the NDP is absolutely unfair under the law of milky- way !

Sinkapore got out of Mudland was not a honorable thing, but able to survive is the hardwork contributed by every local people when the notorious FT policy is not born yet , and definitely it is not PAP alone who do it OK !
You forget what the local people had done for you stupidly after 1965 ?
Now you say FTs are better people ! So you Eat rice full, turn over the bowl ?

People say if you don’t balance the energy that flow thru the NDP---the whole parade is cursed if it is seen as onlyPAP parade !
Look at the display of war weapons---PAP still want children to believe that only war can solve bilateral issues ?
Sinkapore is no Israel , no North Korea, why still live in the past of someone else ?

Perhaps too many gold bars kept here for Fts, PAP wants to merchandise the war weapons to ensure the investors the vault is safe with SAF ! ahahahahahah....

In this cutting edge world, PAP should seriously cut the defence spending and think for the people !

Those read this message got good England please write to ST forum and any paper forum !

You can put the title like that if you want----“NDP is for all people , not for PAP people only, and please stop war mentality and stop impressing FTs ok ! “

This is a must-read every year, around this time of the year.

CONSUMING THE NATION: NATIONAL DAY PARADES IN SINGAPORE

The resemblance of Singapore’s National Day parades to state rituals in fascist and communist regimes is in large part a consequence of the military dominance of the parade. The military presence has been clearly felt since the first anniversary of Singapore’s independence when the theme was ‘national pride and confidence in the future’ (1966). Militarization has continued to be tied up with the themes of subsequent anniversaries: ‘rugged and vigorous Singapore’ (1967), ‘youth and ruggedness’ (1968), ‘work for security and prosperity’ (1970), and ‘total defence’ (1985).

While boasting the strength of its weaponry and defence forces to neighbouring countries signals the viability of the Singaporean nation in the face of adversity, and conveys the message that Singapore is like a small but poisonous fish in the Southeast Asian seas, such military exhibitionism is also targeted to the local population, not only as visual entertainment of the Top Gun and Star Wars epic film variety, but also as reassurance of safety under the current political leadership. How far this reassurance is realistic or not is a moot point, but military exhibitionism usually indicates anxiety rather than security. ...

In sum, the militarization of National Day parades renders the parade a ritual of power and hierarchy, dramatizes the state’s monopoly of force, personifies the nation by underscoring values of order, discipline and regimentation, and reassures the populace in the face of anxiety. ...

Singapore’s National Day parade is so highly structured, so meticulously coordinated, so scripted to a protocol and so hierarchically arranged that it resembles communist state rituals more than street carnivals. Its structuredness underscores the values of order, discipline and compliance.

Short of this free articulation of multivocality, the category of repressed consumers suggests that nation-building in Singapore again bears resemblance to the Soviet model of socialist realism. Socialist realism was the state formula for aesthetics in the Soviet Union. Art should picture reality, not in terms of an accurate portrayal of society, but in terms of what that society should be. Art should picture life, not as it is, so much as life as it should become (Schudson 1986: 215). So fiction should dramatize politically correct heroes, art should inspire people to socially correct behaviour.

In summary, the NDP:

1) Spectacular propaganda for the local population (read the article I posted earlier).

2) A veiled threat to the neighbouring countries.

3) A chance for some SAF scholars to get promoted. Earn another crab, or their first star etc.

4) A chance for some porlumpars in MOE schools to score points when they send their students to perform.

5) Burns the weekends (rehearsals) of NS slaves and those school kids mentioned in #4.

6) Big business for various contractors e.g. the suppliers of the fun packs' contents.

Only in communist countries or countries under dictatorship is there a need to display their armaments & troops by parading them on their National Day.

All other true blue democracies just celebrate it with a public holiday and night time fire works display.

sillyppooore has a defence budget of
S$22.7 billion, or about 30 per cent of its total expenditure in Financial Year 2019
surely the garberment has to show the money is used for the stated purpose
not vanishing into some blackhole

And the Chingay is a LKY parade, it was his idea after all.

A very poor imitation of Brazil's Carnaval.

Chingay is an attempt to be PRC-like. Just like he told his children to name their children PRC names--Hongyi, Haoyi, Shengwu, Shaowi etc

NDP is the only chance for paper generals to command a sizeable group of men operationally to complete something.

Otherwise they are just armchair generals
