What Makes PRs Think SGs Owe Them a Living?

PRs should serve in SCDF until 45 if they have missed fulltime NS. They can learn medical and other skills to help the community. They have to serve a total of 2 weeks each year where they will work and minggle with Singaporeans and other PRs.
Or can make all PRs do national day parades and other non defense related duties. Free up our NSFs for real training, and shorten their NSF service.

Brilliant suggestions. Upz you 70 points later.

Err....one small problem, ladies PRs how?

First of all, are we to consider ladies serving NS as a rule. If so, then ladies PRs who wish to qualify for type 1 PR must do NS. The nature of the NS can be something we need desperately, maybe nurses, CCA trainers in schools etc. Even if this is not a rule for women to go for NS, we can still adopt this as a qualifying service if the FT wishes to qualify for Type 1 and is single. If she is part of a couple, as long as one adult member of the family serves NS, then the couple is qualified.

In all fairness, most Malaysian are set to stay in Singapore for the long term. Needless to say, their children are all born and bred here.

I can't say the same about other nationalities.

Long term? Is that why they remain permanently PRs in Singapore after 20 years? So they can commute to SG from JB and rent out HDB flat?

Born and bred here? Guess the country of origin for 2nd gen PRs who have left because of NS?

New rules have been laid out, let's see how robustly the officers enforce such laws. Guess the nationality?

that must be the biggest mistake he made! he should have settled for ang mor or viet or some other chinese immigrant.

The young guy was a naive but likable guy. He was a relatively fresh grad without any experience with the PAP. Not his fault that he got involved with a Spore girl;)

I suspect that once the romance is replaced with the realities of living in Spore he will realise his mistake(s). After all how many of us expected the PAP to exploit us "lesser mortals" At least he has the option of returning to Australia which I expect he will eventually do. Let's be honest Spore has become a place for the foreigners & the rich.

From the photos of the foreigner with his luggage on the MRT, I blame the MRT for letting them in the gantry,,MRT staff are to ensure the rules are not violated,,by letting this people in with their luggage its a hazard,,if anything goes wrong and there is an evacuation. people will be tripping over these luggage,,and is there not a rule that says 1 luggage only if going to air port?
