Just like clothes speak volumes about their wearer, the car you drive can also be seen as an extension of the driver's qualities. Besides judging from the type and size of your car, some psychologists say your choice of colour also has strong links to the driver's personality.

The link between colour and driver's personality isn't always correct, as sometimes the decision is based on stronger factors like cost and availability. Still, it can be quite fun to play armchair psychologist and see if these colours paint an accurate picture of you - or not!

Silver
Car owners who opt for this cool, metallic hue are generally calm, cool, elegant and love futuristic looks. Silver cars represent prestige, wealth and luxury and speak of a sophisticated driver who likes to show off the vehicle?s design. One study even found that drivers of silver cars were more likely to have a higher-than-average level of confidence.

What's also appealing about this colour is not just that it looks good but also because dirt and dents don't show up so easily.

Black

Black cars exude power and authority. This hue is sleek, stylish and never looks dated. It says you're self-assured, are in control, and love elegance. Drivers of these cars are not easily manipulated and tend to be more aggressive on the road.

On the flip side, black is also associated with mystery and villains (just watch any mob movie). But you have to admit a gleaming black car cruising down the expressways does look very impressive.

Red
This shade is often chosen by drivers that are outgoing, aggressive, energetic, sexy and dynamic. It is the colour of vitality and high energy and these people tend to be fast drivers and take more risks on the road.

White
White symbolises innocence and purity, and car buyers who choose this colour tend to be fastidious, refined and safer drivers. It also says a lot about the drivers' need for perfection as dirt has nowhere to hide. A clean white car shows that you pay attention to minute details and care a lot about upkeep.

Could this be the reason why our top Cabinet ministers arrive in dazzling white cars at every National Day Parade?

Yellow
Not counting taxis, yellow cars are usually driven by those with joyful, sunny, youthful dispositions. These drivers are optimistic, confident, idealistic and young at heart.

Blue
If you choose this calm and serene shade, you are likely to be a contemplative, conservative, loyal and calm person. On the road, you take a cautious approach.

Grey
Drivers of grey cars tend to be pragmatic, intelligent, and practical, but boring. Grey is a sign of stability and reliability, and people who choose grey cars are said to be good at their work and very loyal.

Purple
Owners of purple cars tend to be self-assured, creative, individualistic, with a love of all things beautiful.

Orange
If you have an orange car, chances are you enjoy being in the limelight and crave attention. You are unique, fun-loving, talkative and trendy and generally a happy person.

What a stupid article, my car is black because it was the only color left at that time and more importantly, I didn't care what color the freaking thing is. It is just a mode of transport in my view.
