This is what I use for in order of frequency of use:

1. Calling (of course), including overseas call
2. Tell time
3. Whatsapp
4. Surfing (including get information like news, entertainment from the Internet)
5. Camera
6. WeChat, SMS and Line
7. Alarm clock
8. Read email
9. Online Banking
10. Watch movie/serial
11. Planner
12. Music Player
13. Calculator
14. Touch light

I do not use my Smartphone to:

1. Play games
2. Tell temperature
3. NFC- Ezlink services
4. Watch TV
5. Trade stocks
6. Read books

The torchlight app becomes very handy when you needed them, esp when you travel and not forgetting Whatsapp too.

I only use my "smart"phone for:

- phonecalls, local and overseas.
- text messages
- as an alarm clock
- view my personal gmail

I do not use any of the dozens of apps like the rest of my colleagues. I am truly lacking in my knowledge and ability to use most of the functions in my phone. I was with my colleague in Chiang Mai and he used his smartphone to find out where to go and he facebooks his whereabouts to his friends and they reciprocate with him in this. Whilst waiting, he plays games and fidgets around with his device for maps and other info and even watches soccer games on the little TV screen. I don't think I'll ever get to his level of savvyness in this and am comfortable with the level I'm at. I'd rather smoke pot.
