It does not looks like Veragel is sold in USA. It is may be sold under a different name or marketed under a different product.

Typical SINgaporean who mistake BRAND name for the medicine they are taking...VERAGEL is the brand name for Omeprazole http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omeprazole that is the generic name of that drug. What you are taking is antacid...ask the pharmacist for the equivalent.

I know VERAGEL & have seen it...though I rarely have hyperactivity problems, someone I know have...

You should manage your food intake to prevent another attack, medicine can assist, but taking in long term is not a healthy solution. Your own body, you should know, what not to eat or drink, that will promote the increase in acids.

root cause may be h. pylori infection in the lower stomach and duodenum. the test is a simple breath test. if tested positive, need to treat it with a anti-biotic cocktail plus prevacid or omeprazole or pentaprazole equivalent. early treatment will help prevent stomach ulcers which lead to cancer.

As yellowarse pointed out, Veragel is not Omeprazole. Veragel is antacid. Omeprazole is proton-pump inhibitors.

I finally found out what Veragel is. The veragel wrapper never states the ingredients.

No. I have not. Maybe I should test for h. pylori bacteria to see if it is peptic ulcer. The reason why I take veragel is I am taking antibiotics and to prevent the stomach from getting too acidity, which leads to gastric if unchecked, I need the veragel. If I don't take antibiotics, then I don't need veragel. I just need to keep the acid down and don't need to inhibit acid, which is why I asked for antacid and not proton-pump inhibitors. By the way, Tums is also a common antacid but I prefer Gaviscon now that I 'discovered' it.

Just head into any CVS or Walgreen there and ask the pharmacist which is the equivalent there are so many antacids OTC. They will tell you. Only way to be 100% sure of H Pylori is to go for upper endoscopy.But stomach acid increases usually due to diet.

It's risk factor but obviously not the only factor as 50% of the world population harbor the virus.

85% have no symptoms whatsoever. 2% of those with the bacteria develop cancer.
