Everytime i read of an issue raised by WP i wondered if the report is real? Because all over the place i am being told WP has not spoken much or raised any relevant issue. Sometimes i was told they "pretend" to raise some issue. Or could it be those people who portrayed WP as silence are smearing?

One needs only to watch BBC of British ministers speaking off the cuff when responding to questions from the floor on both sides of parties. Our ministers have an army of ministerial staff write draft responses etc.

I agree. Pritam as is his duty as an MP of this country is asking the right questions. He is an elected rep of the people and being paid for it. Shanmugam's reacts to the question as thought Pritam's questioned his manhood. For a minister to behave like this poorly reflects on the party and the govt. At least have the decency to show respect to a fellow MP who has duties to fulfill.

It is also not a stupid or wayward question. We are a small city state and like the Palestinians need the support of the world. We looked after Burmese murdering generals and their kids while one of the great figures of society were imprisoned in her own home. We allow Mrs Mugabe to run riot along Orchard Road, while her husband gets his medical attention in Singapore. We even offered Marcos refuge. The man in the street is wondering why all these. For the first time we have MPs asking the right questions.

The PAPpy newspaper tries to portray the Shanmugam as a tough guy but it comes out showing that the Shan guy as patronising and condescending.



Aside, for supposedly exceptional talents, our ministers can't even answer questions at the spur. They need to have questions submitted a few weeks before in order them to be answered. I wonder if these millionaire ministers even know their portfolio. It is time to change parliamentary procedure and do away with the submission of questions. A 2-hour question period everyday when parliament sits and the ministers or PM will answer questions from the Oppositions.
