When I was in polytechnic, I drove a truck to help my family deliver goods during holidays (and parktor). My faithful ex-gf (wife) stayed by my side, and allowed me to pick her in Nissan Cabstar after her class in university.

A year before I ORD, I was selected to go for a 2-weeks SAF driving course because I needed to handle recon vehicles and I had driving license before enlisted. During the course, we have soldiers form all formations, including Commando warrant officers. As part of the Class 3M requirement, we were taught to handle 3-tonners and landrovers. I did pretty well, or very well, because no regular soldiers or NSF will have such extensive manual driving experience because MT Line don't send their men to such conversion courses.

There was a 2WO who kept fucking the NSFs. hahaa, and he behaved like a dog when he spoke to the combat warrant officers in the course. To be honest, when you are in a course, men or officers are all equal. My Guards Officer told me that is the case when they attended courses in US.

I drove so well that the instructors buay song, because they couldn't find fault with this corporal. In the end, these assholes scolded me for ridiculous matters until I tulan and told the instructors (who never demostrated driving to us), "why not you show us"? In the end, these clowns don't even practice clutching-fighting in down slopes and the toner jerked like fuck.

When I was participated in a joint parade with another formation, my unit got fucked like shit simply because we were NSFs and the other contingent comprised mostly of regulars. Come on lah, NSF always marches better than regular, if you understand where i am coming from.

Tonight, I just want to share some thoughts on why our army always be handicapped.

I came across very good regular soldiers in army. But the schedule for many regular soldiers is to reach their camp timely in morning, show face for roll-calls and then go sleep in their bunk or office until lunch. Some even put in the effort to spend 1-2 hours to visit nearby coffeeshops or hawker centres for lunch while the NSFs report for their training schedule.

Singapore has conscription system, this resulted in NSFs who are more hardworking, committed and diligent are under the leadership of parasites whose biggest achievement in life is their undeserving ranks on uniform. If you are a SME towkay, don't you appreciate that you have a marketing manager who can sell more than you, instead of being jealous. Such SAF culture cannot win real war. Many regular soldiers assume that they will not cross paths with NSFs in future, and went on to treat NSF as if we are from another army or their domestic helpers. May i ask, if war erupts in Singapore, these lower-paid NSFs and reservists will sent to die first right?

Serve and fuck off.

If war breaks out, welcome the invaders as liberators.

The most funny part is that the highest ranking and "best performing" (= best por lum par) jiakliaobees eventually become ministars, and get to continue their JLB activities at astronomical salaries.:biggrin:

Good time to tekan your old classmates, if you become officer and they stay as CPL or SGT.

Downgrade in every which way you can.. .aim for a stay-out appointment.. go study, learn another language.. pick up another skill.. just dont waste time with those regulars... Unless you siao on, very garang, wanna sign on and aim for NDP go on TV  then everyday in camp go hold balls lor...

What were you hoping the SAF was about? Didn't anybody tell you how it was gonna be before you went in? The situation you described is the system that churned out all those CEOs in SPH, NOL etc.. and JLBs in parliament now... you sound young.. you should know how to vote..

can see regular occifers seeping kopi, spending time at toastbox in katong, and talking cock during afternoons.

The most important thing I learnt in N-Ass is the art of carrying balls and licking boots.

Laying low and not being the 'hero'.

Being unquestioning robots that follow orders.

The trick is to switch out of that mode once you step outside the camp gates and get back to real life. Leave that regimental shit behind and don't look back.

Lots of SAF uniformed people at the malls during those rehearsal months. From Funan to Raffles City to Suntec.

I did not volunteer, I did not do it on my own free will, I was threatened & compelled by law to serve N.S. During my time, the food & condition & training was not the same standard as today, my pet dog at home had better food & shelter etc..

Instead of engaging a consultant to survey how many will sacrifice for sg they chose to survey how many times a women would want sex which imho they have no say over

I enjoyed my NS days tremendously. It was the best period of my life!

I have to thank the PAP for giving me the opportunity to experience what it is like to be able to order minions around and not having to do a thing for myself.

Same here. Why do people in this forum hate NS and reservist training so much?

In those early NS days....it was just a torture programme for young men.

If you served NS in the 70s...you will understand what I am talking about.

Even duing ICT reservist, they issue you with used smelly personal SBO & helmets and expect you to return the respect & service to them.

Daily it is just a waiting game and you go to the firing range the entire day just to fire 9 rounds of bullets.

It was a privilege. For that we have to thank the PAP.

No need to respect regulars or appointment holders as most of them beh kan. My company was once deployed as training troops for school of armour both OCS cadets and occifers vocation conversion course to led. Being troops that waited for 2nd year Atec, we were experienced troopers. Most of us were dismayed by the orders given by the cadets who supposed to be on their final field exercise before pass out as occifers. Our section 2ICs has to hint the sect comd(cadet) or the PC (cadet) what to do as all of us don’t want to kenna sumulah in the field. Those occifers in armour conversion course are no better than the cadets. Minimum rank at least kapitan with a few majors. If not well verse in armour tactics still no big deal but kanna sai in infantry tactics really no cure. Dunno how they were trained in OCS what to do when platoon encounter enemy MG with section minor. The major leading my platoon order 2up fire movement over open terrain and all 3 sect 2ICs protest while the 3 sect comd(captains) keep quiet. The correct way supposed to leave 2MGs and one sect with PLsgt to engage enemy with the rest of platoon attack from the flanks under cover by terrain. (Armour platoon dismount with 03xGPMG)
Being in same camp with school of armour and sharing same cookhouse with the trainees and experience training with them give me very low opinion on these commanders. There are exceptions but maybe one or two out of ten.
