Track incidents caused train service disruptions

WE REFER to Mr David Kwok's Forum Online letter, "Too many breakdowns along East-West line" (May 25).
We contacted Mr Kwok to obtain details of his train delay experience. He was unable to recall specific incidents, although our records show that he provided feedback on a train disruption that occurred on May 18.
This disruption, on the east-bound train service between Queenstown and Outram Park stations, was due to an accident which occurred at Redhill station, when a passenger was hit at 11.35am. SMRT had provided bus bridging services to ferry passengers between Queenstown and Outram Park stations during the 45-minute delay.
A similar accident, which took place on May 7 at Bedok MRT station, also caused a service disruption. There were no other instances of major train breakdowns along the East-West line in May.
