The good thing about buying canned food is that if there is a lockdown which starts end of this year, you can still eat the canned food.

However, if this is about what you like and don't like, then please go and buy all those things that you like.

Why stock up on perishables?

Here is the list:

toilet paper
toiletries like tooth paste, tooth brush, shaving cream, shavers, blades
soap - dettol
household cleaning products - dettol and dettol derivatives preferred
wipes, tissue paper, sponges
mouth wash and gargles
rice - important. BOTH white & brown!
all manner of canned food that can last > 1 year
canned FRUITS --> MANY PEOPLE neglect this
VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS
medicine - for diarrhoea, and fever
spare computer hardware - functioning laptop, thumb drive, printer, printer catridges
uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
candles and lighter
gas canister for heating food
MRE (military rations)

Ok that's all you need. Don't bother about perishables because a real zombie apocalypse will outlast any perishable item

For two or three week lockdown, you can ignore the computer hardware, MRE, candles kind of stuff. These items are on my shopping list because of the possibility of protracted economic decline and multiple lockdown cycles caused by incompetent governments around the world, especially our two neighbours. Also, you may not want to go out even after lockdown is over to avoid the large crowds that will inevitably form outside shopping malls and supermarkets. That's part of the reason for this comprehensive list.

You should focus on the food items for the short term. Don't worry, it's gonna be okay. For canned fruits, I'm assuming fresh produce is no longer available.

If you just do rice and canned food, you're gonna be FINE

if you freeze your “meat” it should be ok for sometime. but after a while you’ll get freezer burns if they are not wrapped well enough. (like yourself, some young guy may find your frozen meat cold and unappealing too.) for times like this you may need to compromise your demanding taste buds for “freshly“ cooked meat (such as from a young stud) and settle for old stale meat that is canned. it’s only a few weeks, and you have to bear with the lowly standards and inconvenience. after that you can have all the “fresh” meat you want. much fresh meat will be waiting in line to serve you.

Just the basic necessary item dry food and canned food.
You cannot be expecting living as per normal with fresh vegetables food meat seafood etc.
Your life style must change.
