SG media are trying to pacify Singaporeans by being more neutral to Opposition MPs and Opposition Parties.

But the SG media are still running dogs and have a long way to go before they are truly neutral

Read the media just before GE2011. Chen Show Mao got an entire full page coverage in both the Zaobao and ST.
I am sure new WP CEC member, sociologist Dr Daniel Goh, will eventually get such coverage. You heard it here first!

I wouldn't trust the media so easily. They can put out full length features of any opposition person any day but the critical period which is the elections, the opposition gets splatted every day out of the 9 days.

Imagine a body putting all the press agencies into its stomach, then the body goes into the authority and the authority is installed by a long-staying party. There is no reason for such an arrangement if it is not for a certain sinister purpose.

I tend to agree with your POV.

Up till 2011 SDP displayed hostility to the media including publishing private correspondence. Now yellowarse says they are quietly cultivating them. And he is also cheering press freedom.

Quite a marked departure.

You are wrong. WP is ZB's favourite political party. The english press such as ST are inclined towards PAP, while ZB is inclined towards WP. No prizes for guessing why.

maybe zaobao generally is wp-friendly but i remember there were some zaobao reports that were unfair, biased or something similar and ah low was out bashing zaobao publicly.

and during the a.i.m-gate and ahpetc-hawker center-gate, a lot of sleeper-white scum bootlickers were also out in force.

The aim is not to show SG has press freedom but rather to reflect the ground reality of increased opposition support. They have no choice but to do so, and i'm sure everyone from the top down know there is no way to clamp down on the press like in the '70s or '80s.

It all goes back to my main point - You want coverage by daily broadsheet, be friendly to them. It took SDP eons before they realised that (or did they?).
