SOME 50 witnesses will testify in the much-anticipated inquiry into the death of Bukit Panjang resident Tong Kok Wai in a hit-and-run involving a Romanian Embassy car.
At a pre-inquiry conference on Wednesday, State Counsel Lau Wing Yum said the Romanian authorities will allow the embassy's administrative officer Marius Trusca, who has diplomatic immunity, to testify.
As the number of witnesses was initially 35, State Coroner Victor Yeo noted that the six days allocated for the inquiry, starting next Wednesday might not be adequate. He then scheduled a continuation from April 12 to 23.
