CNBC based on the AVERAGE salary. Why not median net worth? After deducting HDB loan, sinkee will be pok kai. HDB flat is NOT an asset as its appreciation span is short. After 40 years, its value start to drop.
Like I often say, the outside world don't know too much about sinkapore. It takes the info from the lying party and don't bother to do some legwork to check those info out.

Macau, the world’s gambling hub, will overtake Qatar as the richest place in the world in 2020, according to the International Monetary Fund.
GDP per capita in the Chinese territory is forecast to reach $143,116 in two years, compared with $139,151 in Qatar. It is predicted that the gap will widen by 2023 because of Macau’s faster economic growth.
The expansion comes after a period of sluggish growth beacause Macau’s casinos suffered under President Xi’s anti-corruption drive. Gambling revenues rose by 19.1 per cent last year compared with 2016.

And lets face it. Those new billionaire citizens that pushed the figure upwards due to its tax haven status bringing in with them the money from neighbouring countries, notably indonesia. That money trickled to the bankers and real estate.
