Heather Stanning is due to take up a front line posting in Afghanistan. The closest a sinkie has got to 'real' combat is rifle shooting in Pulau Tekong or overseas reservist training in Taiwan.

I disagree with you. If the PAP offers $1 million to any SAF personnel who can win an Olympic medal, you will be amazed at how committed, dedicated, and talented they will suddenly become. Unfortunately, the $1 million offer is only available to run road FTs from other countries. So, assluck for native sinkies.

The $1 million is paid to ANY sinkie, imported or genuine, that wins an Olympic gold.

If the bestest marksman in SAF went to his CO and ask for time off and resources to train for Olympics shooting, his OC will tell him to fuck off and get ready for the exercise next week.

That's not true. One of my army contemporaries was Lee Kum Cheok. He was given loads of time off for training and competitions.
