Actually is a good choice to take Cathay to Bangkok or HK now, as there is an on going promotion and the price is almost similar to the Budget airlines.
But if he is taking Cathy to other countries, he has to transit in HK, which is time wasting!
Personally I like Cathay the most comparing to all other airlines that I have taken.

Cathay has one of the best lounges in the world. It's the only one that I know when you come out of the shower you can order a freshly cooked bowl of noodles. Every ingredient taste for fresh and the staff are local and smiling.
