if he were, his ex-employees, colleagues and associates would be out in full force to support him.
i still couldn't get over his hidden agenda about the "100K signatures" demand. this article by the infamous BRYAN T stirs up more question marks about tkl.

"Some present and former employees of NTUC Income will probably have shivers down their spine if they hear their former boss wants to be the next President of Singapore.
If Tan Kin Lian runs without the support of his former employer, these employees will in all likelihood volunteer to help the candidates opposing him.
There are as man...y others, who will firmly stand by him, help his campaign and ensure he gets a good chance at being elected.
That is the kind of loyalty and reaction Tan Kin Lian attracts as a leader." - ex-NTUC Income legal staff [1]
....my analysis of this "leader" is this:
If TKL were an excellent leader-cum-boss and had retired gracefully, almost all in his ex-organisation would have stepped forward enthusiastically to support his political endeavours, in this case, the EP contest.
If he was a reasonable boss who treated people fairly, maybe 50% of his ex-employees will come forward to support him, while the rest will remain inactive and neutral.
But if he were one who was characteristically biased and often exercised favoritism towards a distinct group (who sucked up to him), it would be as what the blogger: most would volunteer to help his opponents while those had who cozied and in turn benefited personally from him will stand firmly by him as a form of gratitude.
