How about parents watch and discipline their kids more?
When I was a kid, I had rode on escalators wearing Tat Sing slippers. I'm still fine, and I kept my toes.
Too many parents are not taming their fidgety brats in public places these days.
You don't want parents to become litigious scums and sue the shoe manufacturer, escalator company or mall management, blaming everyone except themselves. Junior lost a toe because you were shitty parents, get over yourselves.
You do not want this already sterile and bubble-wrapped society (Singapore) to be made even more child-safe due to pressure from some vocal, upset parents. Case in point: sand pit playgrounds. They're disappearing and replaced by safe plastic-rubber playgrounds, because some silly parents were afraid that their kid step on cat dung, a rusty nail or broken glass hidden in the sand.
