VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Benedict XVI has denounced organized crime as a "gravely destabilizing threat" to society during an address to members of Interpol.
Benedict listed human trafficking and trafficking in organs as two of the more "barbarian" activities carried out by organized crime, saying victims are humiliated both physically and morally. He called for greater international cooperation to combat organized crime and terrorism.
The pope said "these crimes transgress the moral barriers which were progressively built up by civilization and they reintroduce a form of barbarism which denies man and his dignity."
Italy, which is battling organized crime groups including the Sicilian Mafia, the Calabrian 'ndrangheta and the Neapolitan Camorra, hosted the weeklong Interpol meeting.
On Thursday, Interpol elected its first female president, France's Mireille Ballestrazzi.
 
A good documentary on Mafia in the yester-years. I remember reading about the killings in Italy and the arrest of the Mafia boss in the newspapers in the 80s and 90s.

Not sure. But he is not in demand. Looks like he will continue to squat at MHA as Senior Deputy Secretary. Where to get the salary he is getting for the amount of work and responsibilities?

wonder what would the Russian mafia do if the orthodox church in Russia were to make a similar statement... :o:o:o

Assuming that he is Superscale C or D, say about $300,000 to $400,000 a year, he may remain there until age 60, and then collect his pension.

He should be there - C or D. He may even choose to retire at 62. Whether at work or at home, he is on paid vacation.

I wonder whether CCK, who is the same batch of SAFOS as KBH, is retired, and collecting his pensio.
It lloks like the abovementioned 2 gentlemen are doing better than those from the first batch of SAFOS, except, LHL, who is in politics.

By the way, where does BL sits, as in annual compensation? My guess is at least $500,000 a year.

BL is a PS (not sure of grade ) and has been so for a while so not likely to be less than $ 1 mio all in/
 
Pope(s) have been working with the Mafia for ages..................the Vatican Bank is one of the top banks when it comes to laundering money for the Mafia..........

many people don't know the Vatican had been running loanshark operations since the middle ages....................
