SINGAPORE: The Singapore police have arrested a 48-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman for committing a series of break-ins at coffeeshops along Dover Road.

The police say in the last two months, up to S$10,000 worth of cash and cigarettes were stolen from coffeeshops in the area.

The breakthrough in the case came after police managed to lift the fingerprints of the male suspect at a crime scene in early May.

On Thursday, officers from the Clementi Police Division traced the male suspect to a unit at Bedok South Avenue 2, following a tip-off.

He was arrested together with his alleged female accomplice.

Officers also seized 221 packets of cigarettes valued at more than S$2,300.

If convicted, the suspects face a jail term of between two and 14 years.

There's 2 ways of looking at this story.

The police finally caught them after years & years & years of getting away with it.

Or times are tough & people have to resort to crime to survive.

Might I suggest a 3rd way? - Smokes are just too darn bluddy expensive in this country.

Its all part of the high cost of living in PAPs Spore. Those million dollar MPs don't work for free

If it wasn't for the smokers & car owners, the PAP would be squezzing the other tax payers even more
