Apparently, the sports authorities are riding roughshod over the needs of the man in the street. No consultation, no alternatives. They just do not care about us.

Untimely closure of squash courts

<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->
<!-- end left side bar --><!-- story content : start -->I AM a squash buff and surprised by the premature closure of the squash courts at the Kallang Squash and Tennis Centre for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
I was told that the squash courts were slated to be turned into offices for YOG staff.
I fail to see why the YOG committee should take away squash courts when the sport is not part of the upcoming games.
I also wonder if the courts have been closed prematurely. The centre has been fenced up, and although security guards have been posted at the gates, there does not seem to be much work being undertaken.
