THE young man was battling several other youths in an online game called Sudden Attack in a gaming competition.

Moments later, he ended up in a real fight with a teenager outside the cyber cafe where the competition was held.

The 20-year-old gamer, who ended up with a bruised eye and nose, claimed that a 14-year-old boy had attacked him.

It is not known if the younger boy had also participated in the Sudden Attack Grand Championship Singapore Qualifiers 2010 held at Aquarius, a cyber cafe on the second storey of Parklane Shopping Mall on Selegie Road.

Sudden Attack is an online multi-player first-person shooting game.

The incident happened outside the cyber cafe around 5pm yesterday.

Police said they have interviewed the two youths involved and are looking into the matter.

The New Paper understands that the two youths had a disagreement over comments made on Facebook by one of them about the other one's girlfriend.

The gamers and their friends, who had turned up to support them, were at the cyber cafe since 8am. It is not known how many gamers took part in the competition.

The 20-year-old gamer was later taken by ambulance to the Singapore General Hospital, where he received outpatient treatment for bruises to his left eye and nose, and a bump on his forehead.

When The New Paper on Sunday met him at the hospital last night, the youth said the fight had broken out over a "personal matter" but declined to give details.

His mother and more than 10 friends were with him at the hospital.
