i believe gan should be correctly pronounced as “ngan” consistent with southern dialects. “gan” was kk mispronunciation and translation by ah neh, macik, and baba nurses who didn’t grasp southern dialects well when they suka suka gave ah kow ah ngu ah ter names to chink babies.
