That's why we teach kids road safety we have zebra crossing traffic lights etc etc etc.

You idiot , do you think those kids walk up the mountain without proper gear , barefooted ..ect ? And mind you , they die not because of climbing that mountain they die because of earthquake which don't happen everyday unlike road accident !!

When people die in road accident do they blame that the road is dangerous ? No !! They said it's because they are unlucky same as those who die because of earthquake . Walking up mt Kinabalu is not dangerous it's only if you are unlucky you get caught in earthquake . Walking up the mountain itself is not dangerous at all ...period .

Why don't you ask what is the limit age learn how to walk ? does mountain walking need to shift gears ...ect ? Again comparing apple with orange . Mountain walking only need a pair of legs . anyone have perfect legs and never give up attitude can easily walk up mount Kinabalu .

i am a mother of 3.
all the above tuayapeh video are not risky because they are confined in the small arena and all the risks are calculated risks and they are greatly mitigated by wearing proper helments protective gears.

however, mountain climbing is the real risk because it is nature and the mountain is many times bigger than the boxing ring and hence you can imagine the risk involved.

even without earth quake, climbing mountain is also risky and you may encounter wild animals, insects, snakes, landslide etc.
only MOE and silly PAP hardcore still support the idea that children shall be sent to kota kinabalu.

near the peak, there are no trees and insects. temperature about freezing. below, same insects and plants you see in singapore. no blood sucking leech as its a well trodden path.

If there's no earthquake I don't think they will be killed . Anyway using harness and rope does not mean you will hanging 90 degree like rock climbing .
