As a NATO head, you threaten and insist on taking control of member sovereign land, yet when you face trouble, you demand their assistance. It is only natural that NATO member countries would lose their willingness and capacity to support you. This perceived hypocrisy can lead to a loss of trust and a desire to distance themselves from your leadership.
