[Video] - PAP Chan Chun Sing was pleasantly surprised to meet chiobu Recruit Phyllis Ong again during his visit to the Basic Military Training Centre

My salute to NSF Recruit Ms Phyllis Ong.

It is not mandatory for our women to serve NSF, as they already literally bears the burden of Nationhood, as they, being the female species, would have to face the rigors of 9mths pregnancy and at the least another 21 years and more, to love and care for that child born.....

Yet she VOLUNTEERED to serve in our Military. Today's friends may become tomorrow's enemies and equally, today's enemies may become tomorrow's friends. We are only a small red dot on the World's map, thus we have to be very careful and adroit in our foreign policies, to survive as a Nation TOGETHER, regardless of race, language or religion.

She volunteered, not because she want to defend this small piece of rock or million dollar home and industrial/commerce properties. She served because she WILL be the last line of Defense against enemies, to PROTECT her loved ones, family, relatives and friends.

Alone, we cant do much, but COLLECTIVELY, each doing our part, we will be able to overcome all odds.

There is a saying - to live by the gun is to die by the gun, thus more poignant her sacrifice as well as MANY, MANY of others like her, females and males, and our NSF/NS men. They are our last Samurai......

May we find peace always in this troubled World, but we will be prepared to defend peace, as peace is an irony in that it will need arms and sacrifices to defend such and way of life and the priceless lives of loved ones....
